The Y Inclusion Services Newsletter - August 2021
 
Dear members,


Both our personal and professional lives have been challenged once again by COVID restrictions. It is our hope that everyone is staying safe and
feeling supported during this time.

We are committed to continue to provide the care needed during this time. If you are unsure of how we can help or if you want to talk through how your supports can be modified during lockdown periods, our team is here for you!

However, despite the challenges, there have been some silver linings.

We are continuing to move forward and grow our service and are proud that the transition of Y Camp Journeys from Y Victoria has officially occurred.

After two cancelled camps and three lockdowns, Y Journeys is finally back up and running!


It was so good to see the excitement on 35 participant and staff faces and to hear the conversations as everyone caught up after being away from each other for so long.
 
COVID Support Feedback

Keeping in contact during COVID restrictions is super important and we love hearing from you.

‘’Alannah has been attending the day centre at Y Space during this lockdown, due to her school being closed. Alannah has enjoyed the activities provided as well as seeing her friends and staff Alannah always seems very happy to attend, we thank the Y for this service as this has allowed both myself and my partner to be able to continue to work. Thank you again for offering this wonderful service’’
Thank You and Welcome!

A huge thank you to Catia Sicari for her incredible work as the WRAP Coordinator! We are grateful that she will be staying with the Y, working on other Y programs.

We are excited to welcome Jessica Hall to our team who will be the new WRAP Coordinator. Jess comes to us with a wealth of knowledge and experience, and we can wait for you all to meet her!

Early Learning Support to families

The Y is proud to have established a new support to families as a part of our commitment to Young People and our community.

We have established a Connections Officer starting in September that will support children 0-5 in our Y Early Learning Centres to gain access to the NDIS help with eligibility and NDIS applications.
 
Continuous Improvement

As a growing service we are continually assessing ways to improve what we do and how we can communicate more effectively. Here are some improvements we have made in the last month:



  • Simplified Holiday Program enrolment forms

  • Our new website has up to date information for the upcoming program

Upcoming improvements

  • Our 2022 programs and dates will be up on our website

  • We will have a new telephone number and direct lines to program teams’ administration staff team

  • Our new Connections Officer will have started to support children and families in our early learning centres to connect into the NDIS

  • Inclusion Service office will be moving upstairs of Y Space to enable more program room at Y Space
